Instructor Jerry LewisEver since I was a young, I wanted to dive. I watched a popular TV show at the time, known as Sea Hunt, Starring Lloyd Bridges as Mike Nelson. Well I wanted to be Mike Nelson. As time went on and life took over, my plans to dive were put on hold. Finally in 1984, when I was 30, I became certified. Shortly thereafter I was stationed at Decimomannu Sardinia Italy while I was in the Air Force. There I dove many times in the Mediterranean. After Italy I was reassigned to Texas, where diving was put on hold for a bit. In 1987 I discharged from the Military and moved to Lancaster Pa. Soon thereafter I found Lancaster Scuba. With their help I went on and certified in 14 other dive specialties. And became a Divemaster along with Assistant Instructor and continued on to Instructor. Later I certified to an IDC Staff instructor. Over the years I have developed a teaching style where I teach students how they learn. I have introduced a lot of people to the underwater world. It never gets old watching them enjoy their first time underwater. Diving should be fun and relaxing. However safety is first and foremost. I teach the diving curriculum infused with a safety first concept. Favorite dive destinations. Number one has to be Australia, a close second is Cozumel. Followed by the Bahamas, and if it ever comes to pass, I would move to St Croix U.S. Virgin Islands. It’s true, I have a mini dive store in my garage. I haven’t new car, but I own 7 BCDs and about 9 regulators. Tanks, yeah I got tanks. Trips, been to places that at one time I only dreamed of. I guess you could say I became a Mike Nelson. I can take you from a non diver to Assistant Instructor, or any certifications in between. No matter what point in your life that you decide to become a diver, I will be here for you! Be Well
