Remote Learning Options During COVID-19
During this time of fear and insecurity, inconvenience and boredom, take your mind off of the current situation and enjoy SCUBA courses. Educate yourself and rejoin the world in the near future all ready to go DIVING!
The COVID-19 Situation has taken us all by surprise. Lancaster Scuba Center would like all of our Patrons, both new and old, to know that during this time of heavy restrictions, there is no need to break from your interest in the Underwater Realm.
So what's Remote Learning, and how do I do it?
Two different types of Remote Learning:
1. PADI eLearning
2. Distance Learning
Here's what you need to know about each type of Remote Learning method
1. PADI eLearning
Electronic Learning or "eLearning" has been around for a while now. With PADI eLearning you can enjoy "academic" Scuba courses, directly from PADI (The Professional Association of Diving Instructors), in the comfort of your own home, at your own speed, and on your own schedule. To participate in these courses you will need either.
First, choose from the eLearning links on the lefthand menu of this page and you will be taken directly to PADI's website, where you will be able to sign up and pay for your selected course. You will automatically be assigned to our dive shop, and one of Lancaster Scuba Center's Instructors will help you complete your course once you have finished your online eLearning sessions.
Once you have paid* for your PADI eLearning course, you will be provided with an eLearning code and directions on how to log in to PADI's eLearning web portal.
*Please Note: Fees for PADI eLearning are for online "Academic" sessions only. For any Scuba course involving in water Pool Training sessions or Open Water certification dives, additional fees will apply.
After logging into PADI's eLearning web portal, you will be delivered all of the Text, Videos, Knowledge Reviews, Quizzes and Final Exam, just as you would if you were sitting in a traditional classroom with an Instructor. You will be able to complete the course at your own speed, and whenever or wherever it's convenient for you. When finished you will be able to print out a "Certificate of Completion" to give to your assigned LSC Instructor.
Please Note: Though by this point LSC will know that you're one of our Students, and we might even have your Instructor assigned already, we will not know when you are personally ready to proceed, so please give us a call and let us know that you are finished with your eLearning and are ready to continue.
Normally, at this point, you would personally meet with your assigned LSC Instructor in our onsite Classroom. A Review of the PADI dive tables would be conducted, a "Quick Review" quiz would be administered, Sizing of Scuba rental equipment would be made, and Instructions and Scheduling for your Confined (Pool) and / or Open Water (Certification) sessions would be made.
Currently, during the COVID-19 restrictions, things are anything but normal. BUT, you can still finish your Academics with your assigned LSC Instructor via Videoconferencing. Your Instructor will make contact with you by email and invite you to an online Videoconferencing meeting. During this session you will be able to meet your LSC Instructor, meet your fellow students, and your Instructor will be able to conduct a review of the PADI tables and administer the Quick Review quiz. Sizing for Scuba rental equipment and future scheduling will be postponed until locations for Pools and Open Water certification dives are once again "Open for Business."
Haven't completed your Pool or Open Water Certification sessions yet, but want to keep on taking classes? You can take as many online PADI eLearning courses as you want (some restrictions may apply) and complete your Pool and / or Open Water Certification dives later!
Give us a call at Lancaster Scuba Center at 717-397-2822 or shoot us an email at email@example.com and we'll tell you how.
2. Distance Learning (via Videoconferencing)
So what's Distance Learning?
Distance Learning is Instructor-Led online learning. Think of it as "Traditional" Book Learning from home.
Take Scuba courses the same way you're already used to, and with your favorite LSC Instructor as well!
Traditional book learning may now be conducted via Video Conferencing software directly to you in the comfort of your own home, though some minor scheduling will be required.
Feel free to choose any course from the Beginner, Open Water, to PADI's entire catalog of advanced and professional courses.
Required equipment include:
How does it work?
Simple! Just follow the instructions below to sign up, and you'll be on your way!
Once you've paid for your course and received your course material, we'll have your Instructor make contact with you to let you know how the course will proceed from that point.
Haven't completed your Pool or Open Water Certification sessions yet, but want to keep on taking classes? PADI has made temporary policy changes during the COVID-19 pandemic, and will allow you to take as many "Traditional" PADI courses as you want - Academics only, and complete your Pool and / or Open Water Certification dives later!
* Please note: Final certification is still dependent on being fully paid for all courses, and completing all required Pool sessions or Open Water Certification dives, in the proper training sequence.
Just keep signing up for more classes!
