If you're interested in technical diving or want a little more bottom time on your favorite dive site, then this is the course for you. PADI Tec 40 is the first of three courses that is designated to take divers from the recreational diving world into the technical diving world. This course consist of 4 dives. With the first dive being done in a pool allowing divers to start the PADI Tec 40 course in the colder months and continue into the open water when it warms up. 

You'll learn to:
  • Use recreational scuba equipment, with some minor additions to enhance your ability to deal with tec diving conditions, or use a standard technical gear configuration
  • Use decompression software and dive computers to plan and make decompression dives with no more than 10 minutes of decompression obligation and not deeper than 40 meters / 130 feet.
  • Use a single cylinder of decompression gas with up to 50 percent oxygen (EANx50) to add conservatism to the required decompression.
You will be introduced to:
Tec Diving Terminology Decompression and stage cylinder handling
Emergency Procedures Gas Planning
   
Prerequisites:
  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
  • PADI Enriched Air Diver
  • PADI Deep Diver
  • Have a minimum of 30 logged dives
    • 10 dives made with enriched air nitrox deeper than 18 meters / 60 feet
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a medical form signed by your physician
Upon successful completion you will be able to:
  • Make and plan decompression dives with:
    • Less than 10 minutes of decompression obligation
    • Depth no deeper than 40 meters / 130 feet.
  • Use a single cylinder of decompression gas with up to 50 percent oxygen (EANx50)
  • Continue your training to PADI Tec 45
