Instructor Terry PapavasilisHello, my name is Elefteria "Terry" Papavasilis and I am a PADI IDC Staff Instructor at Lancaster Scuba Center. I have been scuba diving for 26 years, and love sharing my passion for the underwater world with other people. I love watching people take their first breaths underwater and helping them grow and develop their skills. My favorite classes to each are photography and wreck diving. I love leading trips to the Crystal Coast of North Carolina to explore its spectacular World War II shipwrecks and I am working on writing a book about the Battle of the Atlantic. When I am not scuba diving, I can be found at Millersville University as I am a Marine Biology Major with a Minor in Oceanography. I am working on a major research project exploring the bathymetry and biodiversity of Lake Allure. My research includes using a Remote Operated Vehicle to map the bottom features of the lake as well as using scuba to observe and document the organisms that live in the lake. My ongoing project is to measure the rate of growth of biological organisms on two shipwrecks in the lake. This project could then be used to understand how wrecks can be used as artificial reefs to sustain fish populations. This is a topic I would like to pursue in graduate school. Come explore our underwater world and learn to dive today! I hope to see you at Lancaster Scuba Center soon!
